What I say when I get asked about joining an early-stage startup

I spent the first 5 years of my career working for a big corporate, Deloitte. I then spent 3 years working in SME/startup finance roles. I’ve spent the last decade as an accounting-tech startup entrepreneur. I’ve been asked for advice about working at a startup. The frequency has spiked recently as we recruit to double our team at Mayday. It felt like a good time to write that advice down.
